House speaker and occupancy committee
The student self-administration is elected from the circle of the residents and actively contributes to shaping the coexistence. The elected house representatives maintain contact with the student union, represent the interests of the residents and also intervene in mediation if there are too many differences of opinion. The student self-administration organizes house meetings or events for new residents and manages jointly used rooms. In addition, there is an occupancy committee, which occupies rooms and apartments that become vacant in cooperation with the dormitory administration.
Structure
The association consists of the executive committees and the leaders of the different AG’s. Once every six months, various topics are discussed in the dormitory at the meeting, at which everyone is invited. As a member you have the possibility to vote on different topics at the meetings.
The self-administration
Within our dormitory there is the association Turmstraße 1 e. V., which manages the common rooms (bar, workshop, fitness room) and also provides the internet for the dormitory. Therefore all residents who want to use any of these facilities must be members of this association. The association is structured in such a way that the association board consists of the two house speakers and the treasurers of the house, bar and network cashier. The whole work in the dormitory is honorary, support in the different AGs is always absolutely welcome!
Despite the honorary self-administration however costs arise. For example for the payment of insurance costs, the maintenance and equipment of the workshop and the fitness room or for the common winter and summer parties, to which all members of the association are always cordially invited.
Therefore we have the following cost system to cover our costs:
- one-time 10 € (one-time and obligatory)
- monthly 2 € (obligatory house contribution)
- monthly 4 € (for internet access, optional)
